Sens Road Detention Basin

Location: Houston, TX

This particular project involved excavation and offsite disposal of 91,319 CY of soils for storm water detention basin, construction of 12,488 SY of concrete channel slope paving, and 2 PZ-27 sheet piling drop structures. It also involved installing 769 CY of cast-in-place structural concrete E-80 rated boxes under an existing railroad line.

In order to cross the existing channel we had to remove the rail spur. In addition Serco had to put the new boxes in accordance with the railroad specifications and insert backfill.

The solution was to work closely with the precast designers. We had to make sure that the boxes were fabricated correctly with the appropriate equipment in the field to install them and to replace the spur line. The project was finished on time and per specification.
